Geographical Distribution of China Granite
China has explored 297 granite occurrences, which are widely distributed in 26 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities (the statistics of Taiwan Province is not available for the time being). Of these 161 are occurrences of granite used as stone facing, concentrated in the economically developed East China and North China regions. The reserves of the two regions amount to about 75% of the national total. Among the various provinces and autonomous regions, Shandong Province ranks first, contributing about 32% of the country's total; Beijing Municipality and Fujian Province are second and third respectively. High-grade granite occurrences are mainly distributed in Sichuan, Shanxi, Inner Mongolia and Guangxi.
According to the deposit size classification promulgate by the China National Committee on Mineral Reserves, in China there are five large facing granite districts, distributed in Beijing, Shandong, Hunan and Fujian, and 23 medium-sized facing granite districts.
